Today, I want to chat with you about something that might seem small but packs a powerful punch: professional photos! Yep, those well-lit, expertly composed shots that capture your essence and present you in the best light possible.

Recently, I decided it was time for an update, as I did my last shoot 2 years ago and there were several things about my physical appearance that have changed, more specifically weight gain, and my face is a lot fuller now.

So I picked out the best fit from the line of suits at Fancy Feet Boutique, got glammed up by Decarla Hodge, styled my hair at Salon Royale, put on my brightest smile, and headed to a professional photoshoot with Jay Carter.

And let me tell you, the results were beyond satisfying. I posted a few snippets behind the scenes on my WhatsApp and IG stories and a few people asked me if it's my birthday. And that had me thinking that it's quite crazy that people are of the view that professional photos are only necessary for your birthday.  So i decided to write this blog about why these photos are so important.

• First things first, there's a popular quote that says "there's a second chance to everything, except the first impression".

Whether we like it or not, people often judge us based on appearances. It's just human nature. Why not take control of that first impression? ESPECIALLY, as a young professional. Professional photos allow you to put your best foot forward, showcasing your professionalism, confidence, personality, and whether or not people can value you from the jump.

Think about it: when you're browsing through LinkedIn or other professional platforms, whose profiles catch your eye? It's those with crisp, high-quality headshots, right?
